WORTH

SIN: an immoral act that transgresses the divine law of God. It is a wrong, wrongdoing, act of evil, wickedness, transgression, or offense.

GUILT: the fact of having committed a specified offense or tresspass

SHAME: is a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior

MARRED: impaired in appearance or disfigured in appearance to someone

Have you ever considered just how valuable that you actually are? At times we are convinced on those “bad days”, that our value is worthless instead of worthy. We sometimes feel insignificant, meaningless and just simply put… going through the emotions of the day and hoping to get to the next one.

But did you know that God sees you in such a different light than you see yourself? Especially on those days that we can’t find any worth within ourselves, His seat and view is different… it is higher, much higher.

In trying to wrap your mind around these thoughts, make sure that you understand it and never confuse worth with pride. Pride is a feeling, deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from your own achievements. Although pride is believing in your worth, it carries a sinful nature with it that feels it is deserved because of works or your own goodness.

If you were to describe your worth or value, what would you say? How would you view yourself, your life, your actions? Suppose you were presenting to God a description of your life and why He should purchase you, what would you say? Write it out below…

What is it that makes us feel unworthy? If the Word of God has taught us that God loves us with a love like none other, why do we ever feel that we aren’t loved or feel worthless?

It is because of our sin! Sin is direct disobedience to a holy and divine God. When we sin, we are acting with prideful lust and selfish motives. We believe that we know better than God does, and that His Word actually teaches us. Sin affects us in all areas of our lives. It leaves us, as well as others wounded and damaged. Take the time to look at a few scriptures which show us how we are affected by sin.

John 8:34

Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

Acts 8:22-23

Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Have you ever lied? Stolen something, even if it was just a piece of bubble gum? In thinking about this, how would you feel if others knew your sins and sinful thoughts? Did you know that our God knows about it all, but has still chosen to love and reach out to you?
